PHOTO EXHIBITION OF SANTU MOFOKENG

Within its series ‘The Idea of Africa (re-invented)’, the Kunsthalle Bern will again present the work of a renowned South African artist Santu Mofokeng from 8 October - 27 November 2011. The exhibition ‘Chasing Shadows’ is the first international retrospective of his 30 years of photographic work.

NEW MUSICAL THEATER PRODUCTION: "DER WUNSCH, INDIANDER ZU WERDEN"
FROM 10 SEPTEMBER 2011, STADTTHEATER BERN

The Berne Youth Orchestra has invited several musicians of the National Youth Orchestra of South Africa to Berne for a joint performance of a new musical theatre production, "Der Wunsch, Indianer zu werden" at the Stadttheater Bern from 10 September. NELSON MANDELA DAY
18 JULY 2011

On the occasion of Nelson Mandela’s upcoming 93rd birthday on 18 July 2011, the Nelson Mandela Foundation has again called on South Africans to participate in Nelson Mandela Day.

As Nelson Mandela has donated 67 years of his life to public service, people are invited to do community work or give 67 minutes of their time to help others and to make positive change.

On 10 November 2009, the UN has adopted 18 July as Nelson Mandela International Day.
