Issued to spouses and life partners of S.A. citizens or residents who plan to settle in South Africa permanently

Valid for two (2) years.  Visas are processed and adjudicated within 5-10 working days, during which the original passport will remain at the Embassy.

An appointment will be set up approximately three-four weeks prior to the departure date.

Passport:              Must be valid 30 days after the expiry of the visa

Photos:                 Two(2) passport photos (Swiss standard) – no picture, no service

Itinerary:               A one-way flight reservation is required.  Do not make final arrangements

Financial means: Three (3)-month detailed bank statement

Proof of kinship: Copy of S.A. Passport/ID or S.A. Permanent Residence permit of spouse &

                             Marriage certificate    OR

                             Life-Partner’s affidavit signed under oath (BI-12)

 

Birth certificate of children under the age of 18

Accommodation:  Copy of –

                                Deeds of a house/apartment OR

                                Invitation from family/friends

 Criminal Record:  “Strafregisterauszug” on www.criminal-records.admin.ch (no apostille) from each country where applicant resided for a year                                               or longer, after the age of 18

Medical Report:   To be signed by your GP (Hausarzt).

Radiological Report: To be signed by your GP (Hausarzt) confirming that you never suffered /suffering of TB.  Pregnant women and children under the                                       age of 12 are exempt. 

Swiss Permit:        Applicable to any foreign national residing in Switzerland (C, B, L)

Visa fee:                No cash necessary. Payment will be made online.

Please do not make any payments in advance.

Envelope:                         Self-addressed-stamped envelope for the return of the passport

The supporting documents should be in English language or officially translated (except bank statements) 

Please print documents before attending your appointment.  The Consular staff will no longer make any copies or print documents on your behalf.

The Consular Section may accept complete applications only.
