SOUTH AFRICAN UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATE
An extract of your South African birth records is required to be presented with an apostille, in the following cases:
- Register the birth of your own child abroad
- Register to get married in Switzerland
- Application of naturalization as a foreign national
- Any other reason a foreign authority might require such a document
The concerned applicant must appear personally at the Embassy by prior appointment. He/she must wear a personal protective mask to enter the Embassy.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Proof of birth in South Africa (foreign documents should be officially translated into English language).
- Copy of South African birth certificate if available
- Copy of any South African document you may have in your possession
- No cash payment is accepted at the Embassy. Application fee to be made online. The information will be provided to you during your appointment.
- Self-addressed-stamped envelope for the return of document
Please print documents before attending your appointment. The Consular staff will no longer make any copies or print documents on your behalf.
N.B.: All South African documents are printed in Pretoria, therefore the Embassy has no influence on the processing time of the application.
